Its investment objective is to generate both current income and capital appreciation through debt and equity investments. The company focuses on investing in first lien senior secured loans (including unitranche loans, which are loans that combine both senior and subordinated debt, generally in a first lien position) and second lien senior secured loans. In addition to senior secured loans, the company also invests in subordinated loans and preferred equity, it also makes common equity investments.

Ares Capital Corporation (Nasdaq: ARCC) announced that it has priced an underwritten public offering of $750 million in aggregate principal amount of 6.250% notes due 2033. The notes will mature on September 15, 2033 and may be redeemed in whole or in part at Ares Capital's option at any time at par plus a "make-whole" premium, if applicable.
