Pan African Resources CEO: Record year sets up 'healthy' balance sheet for growth push
Pan African Resources PLC (LSE:PAF, OTCQX:PAFRY, JSE:PAN) CEO Cobus Loots spoke with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion about the company's record production and earnings for FY2026, production guidance for the year ahead, and growth opportunities across its South African and Australian operations. Loots said performance benefited from a stronger gold price and a 40% increase in production, reflecting a full year of output from Australia and Mogale Tailings Retreatment (MTR), alongside strong showings from Elikhulu, Evander and Barberton. The company has also strengthened its balance sheet, moving from net debt to what Loots described as a "really healthy cash balance." Looking ahead, Pan African is targeting production of around 280,000 to 300,000 ounces, with the South African portfolio expected to hold its performance alongside rising output from Tennant Mines. Loots also discussed the ramp-up at Tennant Mines and the potential of the White Devil deposit, calling it "one of the highest grading deposits in Australia" at around 3.5 grams per tonne, remaining open at depth and along strike. The interview also covers the Soweto Cluster DFS, pointing to potential production of 35,000-40,000 ounces annually subject to permitting, along with Loots' approach to balancing growth investment with shareholder returns and key milestones for the coming 12 months, including production and cost guidance, MTR expansion, and exploration across the wider Tennant Goldfield.
