Berkshire Hathaway Stock Performance

Berkshire Hathaway Class B shares trade at $516.76, reflecting a market capitalization of approximately $1.07 trillion, per SID market data. The stock maintains an average daily trading volume of roughly 4.63 million shares, indicating sustained institutional liquidity across sessions. BRK-B registers a beta of 0.703, according to Massive/Polygon data, demonstrating materially lower volatility relative to the broader S&P 500 index. This subdued beta is consistent with Berkshire's diversified conglomerate structure spanning insurance, railroads, energy, and consumer brands. The low-beta profile has historically attracted defensive capital allocators during periods of elevated market uncertainty. The stock's position above the trillion-dollar market cap threshold places it among an exclusive group of U.S. publicly traded companies. Berkshire's price behavior continues to reflect its role as a large-cap bellwether within the financial services sector, drawing consistent volume from both retail and institutional participants.

Berkshire Hathaway Valuation Analysis

Berkshire Hathaway trades at a price-to-earnings ratio of 15.86, per SID market data, positioning it at a modest discount relative to broader equity market multiples. The company's PEG ratio stands at 2.20, suggesting the current earnings multiple is elevated relative to its projected growth rate. According to SEC filings, the price-to-book ratio registers at 1.53, a metric closely watched by investors given Warren Buffett's historical emphasis on book value as an intrinsic value proxy. Berkshire pays no dividend, directing all free cash flow toward acquisitions, share repurchases, and its substantial cash reserves. The zero-dividend policy reflects management's longstanding conviction that retained capital generates superior compounding returns. Within the financial services sector, Berkshire's valuation profile remains distinct due to its conglomerate structure, which blends insurance float dynamics with wholly owned operating businesses and a massive public equity portfolio exceeding $300 billion in reported holdings.

Smart Money Activity for BRK-B

Berkshire Hathaway registers a composite smart money score of 46 out of 100, generating a neutral signal according to SID market data. The breakdown reveals insider activity scoring 12.5 out of 25, reflecting limited but not alarming insider transaction patterns per SEC Form 4 filings. Institutional positioning scores 13.0 out of 25, indicating moderate institutional engagement relative to historical norms. Dark pool activity scores notably lower at 8.5 out of 25, suggesting reduced off-exchange block trading interest at current price levels. Congressional trading activity scores 12 out of 25, based on disclosed congressional transaction filings. The neutral composite reading indicates no decisive directional conviction among sophisticated market participants. Given Berkshire's concentrated ownership structure—with Warren Buffett controlling a substantial voting stake through Class A shares—traditional insider and institutional metrics may carry different interpretive weight than for typical large-cap equities. The subdued dark pool score warrants monitoring for potential shifts in large-block accumulation or distribution activity.

Berkshire Hathaway Earnings Outlook

Berkshire Hathaway's most recent earnings data is not available in the current dataset, per company earnings reports. The conglomerate historically reports quarterly results with significant variability driven by GAAP-mandated mark-to-market accounting on its equity portfolio, which can produce multi-billion-dollar swings in reported net income. The trailing P/E ratio of 15.86, according to SID market data, provides a backward-looking reference point but must be contextualized against Berkshire's unique revenue composition. Operating earnings—which exclude investment gains and losses—remain the metric preferred by management for evaluating core business performance. Berkshire's diversified earnings streams encompass GEICO insurance underwriting, BNSF railroad operations, Berkshire Hathaway Energy, and numerous manufacturing and retail subsidiaries. The PEG ratio of 2.20 suggests analysts project moderate earnings growth relative to the current multiple. Investors typically focus on operating earnings per share and growth in book value when assessing Berkshire's fundamental trajectory rather than headline GAAP figures.

Wall Street Analyst Ratings for BRK-B

Wall Street coverage of Berkshire Hathaway reflects a measured stance, per analyst reports on record. Morgan Stanley has maintained an Equal-Weight rating across multiple updates, most recently reaffirmed in August 2020, signaling a market-perform expectation for the stock. UBS has been more constructive, issuing consecutive Buy ratings in April and May 2020, according to SID consensus data. The limited number of recent published ratings is consistent with Berkshire's unique market position—its trillion-dollar capitalization and conglomerate complexity reduce the frequency of formal coverage updates compared to pure-play financial services peers. Notably, the available ratings cluster around the 2020 period, coinciding with pandemic-era market dislocations when Berkshire's substantial cash reserves attracted renewed analyst attention. The divergence between Morgan Stanley's neutral positioning and UBS's bullish outlook illustrates the debate surrounding Berkshire's capital deployment pace and its ability to generate returns exceeding broader index performance at its current scale.
